On the Downward Slope???

Maci saw one of the other Nephrologist today, Dr. Ault, who will be seeing her daily for the next two weeks.  She asked what we had been told as far as long term plans.  I told her that we were expecting dialysis until Maci had grown enough to be able to receive a transplant at 22 lbs.  She said that some children do come off dialysis, even after they have gone home.  She said several hopeful things but I am not going to build my hopes up too high but I WILL keep the faith that if it is in God's will for Maci's kidneys to start working....then they will.
She also said she wanted to press on with our training that is required for the home dialysis and have a surgical consult for Maci's G-tube (http://kidshealth.org/parent/system/surgery/g_tube.html)which she will need for adequate feeding and optimum growth.  Tomorrow, we are expected to increase her fluid volume for dialysis from 60 to 70 mLs.

I believe we are on the downward slope toward going home!  The training is expected to be two weeks and I am not sure how long Maci will have to stay in the hospital after receiving her G-tube.  I am hoping that in 3 or so weeks we are homeward bound.

Maci is getting 65 mLs of milk now and eats an average of 20-40 mLs and the rest goes in her nasal tube.  I am VERY proud of her.  This is a bit of an improvement from the average 20 something mLs she was taking by mouth.  :)

Please keep the prayers going!

My sleeping beauty....
