Very frustrated. Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Each time I update the blog on how Maci is doing, it seems as if I need to come back later to explain that what was happening before is now the opposite. Maci drained well yesterday and last night. TODAY she is positive. Last figure was +54. Nephrology wanted to be notified once she reached a positive 50 so they could be aware, make a decision on what to do and have a plan to preven fluid over load and swelling. The nurse called and they want to continue dialysis for now and if she gets to +75 or greater to stop the dialysis then, temporarily - until tomorrow.
In my GUT, I feel that it is the position of the flippin catheter. It moves....it just does and it happens. It's not like it can be secured inside her peritoneum. Other explanations as to why this could be happening just don't make sense so I am not even going to go there in discussion.
She was doing SO WELL until the surgery to repair her hernias, get the Nissen and g-tube. After that, she began draining inconsistently. They've tested her for peritonitis and the culture was negative and she is still not showing any signs of it. They tested her because of a disconnect between the drain line and the plastic container type contraption that the fluid drains into.
Maci has slept all day today. Some of it was cat napping and some heavy duty sleeping. She was up late last night and I am glad she is resting because she does seem to drain better when she is calm and not moving. On the other hand, I miss being able to play with her during the day.
She's been calm all day as well with exception to when her belly hurts and once she gets rid of the gas (and she sounds like an adult doing so, I might add) she's immediately better. Opening up her g-tube helps at times but others I have to just hold her until it passes....literally. (Yea, just a little baby gas humor for ya.)
I am gonna go love on my smackarooni before it's time to go and also pray that my poor baby DRAINS! She is a positive 50 now....last drain was 40 in and 44 out. I'll take it! Her blood pressure is doing good now too. I hope I didn't just jinx Moo by typing that.
