Hospital Stay

Sunday, 9/23 Maci had some vomiting and diarrhea so I called her Nephrologist.  To be sure she didn't get dehydrated they changed her dialysis fluid to pull off less.  The next night we resumed her regular fluid because she was back to normal on Monday.
Tuesday was another day of vomiting; more than usual but not massive amounts.  Now Maci gets sick because of her tummy problems and this vomiting was more than her average, daily getting sick.  Wednesday was more vomiting and Thursday even more.  She was getting sick shortly after getting her meds too, lost a tad bit of weight from Wednesday to Thursday, so again, I called Nephrology.  We were told to go to the ER so off we went.
I was afraid that because of her getting sick her labs would get out of balance and I didn't want that to happen.  Once in the ER they did a urinalysis and it showed infection and Maci ended up being admitted.  Her labs were "normal" for her so that was a relief.
Maci had no fever, only vomiting which apparently can happen with a UTI (urinary tract infection).

We were at Le Bonheur from Thursday night until Sunday night.  Once the bacteria in her urine culture grew and they knew what the best antibiotic was to treat it, we were good to go home.  She vomited a little Saturday and Sunday, more than her typical amount but not near what she was doing on Thursday.
Oddly enough, the child never indicated that ANYTHING was wrong.  Even before the ER, she would be playing, puke and go back to playing.  It wasn't until I would clean her up that she fussed.  In the ER she was laying on the bed kicking, jabbering and having a good ole time.  If she was going to be sick, I am pleased that she didn't feel horrible too!

Sunday night, at home, she slept like a log......basically all night.  Since then, she is back to her nightly party routine.  LOL
I am just glad to have her back home and hope that the next time she is admitted at Le Bonheur, it is to get a kidney!!!

Last weekend I learned some bad news relating to a family friend. I prefer not to go into detail but do ask that you lift them up in prayer. God knows their need and HE can provide for the needs of this person and healing.
I believe in the power of prayer. It's what has gotten Maci this far. I am weak but praise God he is strong. I often thank Him for walking beside me through life and especially the last 10 months. The more I thought about it, the more I recognized that many times He was NOT beside me. He was carrying me. Sometimes you have to be willing to hand it all over.

In the ER

Happy as can be......

Now THAT'S some curly hair!
