Organ Donation

I recently registered to be an organ and tissue donor.  In the past, the thought of my being buried without my body "intact" was disturning to me.  I also had a fear of being in some type of accident, the hospital being aware of my being a donor and allowing me to die so my organs could be used.  I know, it's an entirely UNREALISTIC fear but it was something I thought about all the same. 
When Maci was born with problems, I thought everything could be "fixed".  When Dr. Delos Santos looked at me and Rick one night and told us that our new born baby girl would need dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant I fought back tears and struggled to breath.  I won't relive all of those emotions right now by explaining in detail since those details are in a previous blog.

This experience with Moo has opened my eyes to SO much that I couldn't even list it all here (without possibly boring you to tears).  A few of the important things that I have become interested in advocating for is kidney disease awareness and organ and tissue donation.  If you aren't an organ donor, I would strongly encourage you to search your heart and decide if you would like to give life to numerous people by donating your organs.  My child will survive...but only because someone will be willing to donate a kidney by being a living donor or because they made the choice to leave behind the gift of life thtugh their death.
