I want to begin this with a HUGE thank you. Thank you for prayers, thank you to those who have already said they'd like to be tested, thank you to those who for whatever reason do not qualify but were willing to be tested! You have no idea the flood of emotions that result from so many people's prayers, well wishes and willingness to be so selfless!!!!!!! Two words, "Thank You", seem so insufficient in conveying my deep, heart felt gratitude!
I received a call this morning from the nurse who is the Living Donor Pre-Transplant Coordinator with the transplant institute. Rick will still be the first one tested as a possible donor match for Maci but they are accepting additional persons who are interested in being a potential donor.
You could possibly be tested as a kidney donor match for Maci if you are:
Blood type A or O
Under the age of 40 but at least age 18
Have a BMI less than 30
Do not have any health issues (no high blood pressure, no diabetes, no history of kidney problems and are in good health)
Anyone meeting the above initial requirements wishing to proceed with further screening and possible testing as a potential match for Maci should contact Melissa Moore, transplant coordinator for the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute here in Memphis. Her number is 901-516-8466. She is extremely busy so if you get voice mail, please leave a message stating your name, contact number and that you are interested in being a living kidney donor for Maci McCarrens and she will return your call.
