Happy 8 Month Birthday Maci!!!

Happy Birthday to Moo.
Happy Birthday to Moo.
Happy Birthday dear Maci.
Happy Birthday tooooo Moooooo.

8 months??? My baby is 8 months old?!!! Where did the time go? I feel like its been just a few weeks since we've been home from the hospital...not 3.5 months! I have enjoyed every, single minute I've been fortunate enough to spend with my little cupcake.

The time now is 11:13 and as I type this, my child is doing the Riverdance in her bed. No music playing, no conversation from me....just her, her own little thoughts and legs violently kicking. Maybe it was a bad idea to sit with her earlier and watch the recorded episode of Jig, a show about Irish dancing. :/
I have had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud at her when she gets to moving so heartedly that I wonder if she's trying to get out if bed or set the sheets on fire.

Her personality is really showing more and more each day. She is SUCH a joy to share my days with (as well as late nights).

Monday, I was pleasantly surprised with several visitors who came by bearing diapers, wipes, (coveted) Resinol and clothes for Maci. THANK Y'ALL!!! I told Maci they were birthday presents. This way, she won't be surprised when she gets socks or underwear for her birthday or Christmas when she's older!
Maci also had OT that morning and did splendid, even with 10 minutes of the tummy time. Tummy time is usually dreadful but this time, Maci said call Johnson & Johnson, it was tear free!

Tuesday the dialysis nurses were to come by for their home visit (something they do with all home dialysis kids) but had to cancel. Tuesday ended up being a free day.

Wednesday was Pediatrician day. Dr. Verma was very happy with Maci's weight gain, 16.2 lbs. Maci got her hib vaccine, cried for 2 seconds and was done. We came home and one of Maci's NICU nurses, Jen, came by for a visit on her way to work. I told you these nurses were like family! We heart them so much!
Maci was very restless before bed last night and I believe it to have been the fault of gas. It makes me so sad that she gets so uncomfortable until she can "toot" or poo her diaper. It always seems to be at night or very early morning.

Today was a lazy, off, no appointment day. Maci did get sick quite a bit today and her weight tonight was the same as last night. Her poor little belly! She also had "floaters" in her drain bag from dialysis. We have to check the fluid that drains for any color change or signs of fibrin. Either or both could be a sign of peritonitis or the onset. The "floaters", as I call them, were very tiny, almost unnoticeable and easily confused as bubbles...except they sank, not rising to the top. I counted three tiny pieces. I'll be taking a sample from last night and tonight's drain fluid as well as sample fluid I get directly from Maci to the dialysis unit in the morning. Maci has a follow up appointment with surgery and the g-tube clinic tomorrow so I'll run by dialysis first. I pray everything is ok and the fluid initially tests negative for bacteria and there's no growth of bacteria over the 48-72 hour time span of continued testing.

Maci is finally asleep, but only after a nice vomit that required a pajama change. Kidney Disease, I curse you!!!!

Since Moo played so long and is getting in bed an hour later, I didn't get to do my laundry. I suppose I'll be Febrezing the cleanest pair of pants from the dirty clothes hamper to wear tomorrow!

It's after midnight so today is a new day. I pray for a good one.....even wearing less than clean pants.
